2nd edition of the E-Drive Day in Colmar-Berg
On Sunday, June 15th, the second edition of the E-Drive Day took place in Colmar-Berg, which was organized by the Center de Formation Pour Conducteurs (CFC) with the support of the Luxembourg word and Automoto. What was already indicated on the occasion of the first edition was confirmed this time: electromobility is becoming increasingly popular. There were twice as many visitors as a year earlier who had enrolled for a test drive on the slopes of the CFC, with 21 participating brands with a total of 40 models there was a comprehensive selection of all electric cars that are currently available on our market.
Everything that belongs to e-mobility
The participants, including companies in the environment of e-mobility, have to be congratulated for this initiative. Expert teams from CFC, Enovos, Swio, Klima-Agence, Leasys Lease+, Spuerkeess, Foyer Assurances, Goodyear and ACL gave explanations for financing, insurance, acquisition, maintenance and charging of electric cars. CFC director Eric Mathias and the car dealers with satisfaction found the rush of visitors at the individual stands of the brands. The event also included entertainment for the small, including remote-controlled model cars as well as a stand for motorcycles and then a stand with e-bikes that were available to visitors for test drives. E-mobility that is particularly popular in the city.
All e-models on the spot
All brands and importers and car dealers present had come. These were Alpine, Audi, BMW, Cupra, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Leapl motor, Mercedes, MG, Mini, Opel, Polestar, Porsche, Renault, Skoda, Smart, Tesla, VW, Volvo and X-Peng. An excellent way to get an overview of the offer and to obtain information about the models, ranges and the charging capacities from the representatives of the individual brands. The largest was the rush at MG. Here you could drive the cyberster, which then explained the long queue.
« I am amazed at this variety of e-models that I call here, said a visitor and pointed to his ten-year-old daughter. » I still grew up with petrol engines, but a whole new mobility world opens up for them and that is quite a good thing « . The test drives took place on the test slope of Goodyear and the systems of the CFC, but this was not about performance or lap times, the organizer had set priorities here and the respective companions on board the electric cars ensured that all trips were relaxed and relaxed and the visitors experienced e-feeling, which will make everyday life more environmentally friendly, safe and relaxed on our streets. « So I hadn’t imagined it, it was my first trip in an electric car and I am very impressed, » said an enthusiastic participant. « The electricity providers present also get information about charging options, which I find very positive. I am happy to have come to this event, » explains another.
CFC director Eric Mathias says that many drivers still have reservations about electric cars and do not know all the advantages. « Most of them do not know that the energy efficiency of an internal combustion engine is 30-35 percent, while it is 90 percent in an electric motor. By giving people the opportunity to try these vehicles themselves, and by responding to all their questions, we believe that we can help to overcome this resistance against change ». Mission Accomplie!
Solutions for the environment and security
The self-driving car developed by the University of Luxembourg (Uni.Lu) meanwhile made its rounds on the CFC training slope and showed an approach of future solutions of modern e-mobility. This also includes the efforts of the CFC as a contribution to safe driving, raising awareness of traffic safety and responsibility for the environment. In this way, visitors were able to take part in 90-minute driving workshops, including brake and curve exercises, with provided electric vehicles.
Future mobility will be electrical, in the interest of the environment. The CFC is also committed to this credo. « In addition to our calling for training for safe driving, we are an environmentally conscious company and for us mobility is one of the solutions to reduce our ecological footprint, i.e. our CO₂ emissions. And there is a decisive role in e-mobility, » as CFC director ERIC Mathias confirms.
