“Suspicions of launching over 21,000 kg of pesticide tangerines are arrested at the request of Prosecutor Berat Farmer, Collector and Inspector. From the analysis, it was found that in this amount of tangerines there were pesticide residues « Fosmet » above the permitted rate (0.075 mg/kg -values ≤ 0.01 mg/kg). At a time when this pesticide has been removed from use from 2022 and is not allowed to be used. Consuming a fruit containing phosmia residues above allowed levels can have consequences for human health, especially if exposure is repeated, as phosmet is a toxic chemical.
Investigations showed that the procedure for returning the unsafe product was done without the knowledge of the NFA and the farmer et said it has destroyed the product returned by the food business operator in an unidentified country. The farmer himself claimed to have dumped the merchandise in the landfill of the Municipality of Dimal where the inspection showed that there was no product residue. Also in the statement given in the NFA according to the record of the finding it turns out that it has dumped the goods into random channels.
Meanwhile, the Employee of DRVMB Berat Inspector ET, in connection with the case, has stated that he has been working in this position for 5 years and has the task of monitoring plants and issuing phyto sanitary certificates. He stated that he went to the farmer after setting up a working group and that samples had taken him to the farmer. But since he is the responsible person who certifies the goods for export, he stated that there were cases that sent the certificates to the subject empty and the subject himself completed and sent it with photos and then recorded them in the DRVMB database.
