Before the Ghent court, 20 defendants are on the right in a case of torture and international drug trafficking. The gang went far: the headpiece had the ear of a 17-year-old running boy cut off after a load of cocaine was lost.
It seemed like a scene Reservoir Dogs Van Quinten Tarantino: cut an ear with a razor -sharp knife. It happened to a 17-year-old walking boy who was considerably tackled in April of 2022 by a drug gang in the garage of a farm in Maldegem, East Flanders.
The reason? Together with another boy from the Netherlands, he had to guard a large load of cocaine, but had not succeeded. The boys were attacked by a rival gang. 300 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of 15 million euros, was lost.
The 17-year-old and his companion were interrogated with the help of a polygraaf or lie detector. The leaders of the gang found the 17-year-old responsible for the entire incident. As a punishment, they raised him heavily. A few gang members cut off his ear, put a knife in his foot and cut the tendons of his hand. The boy also lost a toe.

After the torture, he was seriously injured at the AZ Alma in Eeklo. Afterwards it turned out that there were doubts about whether the 17-year-old walking boy was the one who had tipped the rival gang.
Criminal organization
Research showed that Maldegem was a base for the gang to distribute drugs to the Netherlands and other countries in Europe. Some suspects were arrested and were in pre -hesitation. According to the public prosecutor, one KD turned out to be the client. The police arrested him in the Philippines in 2023. From there he was transferred to a Belgian cell.
The council chamber decided last year to refer 20 suspects to the correctional court. They are prosecuted for torture, membership or leadership of a criminal organization and international drug trafficking. One of the other alleged leaders was previously rightly in another large torture process.
On Monday the case will be dealt with before the Ghent court. The victim whose ear was cut off, did not yet have a civil party.
