193 Deaths by Cholera in Angola since January
Angola registered, until Wednesday, four new dead and 117 cases of cholera. Since the outbreak of the disease in January, deaths have increased to 193 and 5,336 infected.
According to the latest Epidemiological Bulletin of the Ministry of Health, released this Thursday, of the 117 cases of Callera registered until Wednesday, 80 were notified in the province of Luanda, capital of Angola and the epicenter of the disease, which spread to several other regions of the country, especially Icolo and Bengo.
In the last 24 hours, Luanda was the only province who recorded deaths, having in the same period received high 91 people and in hospitalization 198 others with anger.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that in the face of intensifying from the rainy season in Angola is supporting Angolan authorities in reinforcing control measures to prevent the spread of the disease and end the outbreak.
According to WHO, 20 rapid response teams were highlighted for the provinces of Luanda, Bengo and Icolo and Bengo, to perform the detection and active notification of cases, rapid inquiries on infections, data processing and mobilization of communities for the adoption of preventive measures.
