Since the federal government automated income investigation in October 2024, more than 18,000 members of the Christian Mutuality (CM) have already automatically awarded the right to an increased allowance. The CM reports that on Friday.
Some of the beneficiaries for an increased allowance already received that automatically. This is the case for people, for example, with a right to a living wage or an allowance for people with disabilities. For others, an income study had to be done at the request of a social worker, consultant or the person himself. Since October last year, the law has also been automatically granted to single people with unemployment or illness benefits.
« The 18,000 cm members who now officially received the increased allowance were also entitled to this earlier, but did not use it, » says CM chairman Luc Van Gorp. “It is still a threshold for many people. From now on we will systematically monitor that group and help the VT statute if they are entitled to it. ”
The right to the increased allowance is granted if the family income is under the ceiling of 27,370.91 euros. That amount is increased per extra person in the household.
The automatic allocation examines whether the benefit is sufficiently low to meet the conditions for the increased allowance. If that is the case, it will be checked whether the person has more than a property. If that is not the case, the increased allowance is automatically granted.
People with an increased allowance pay less for healthcare or public transport. For example, they pay 1 euro instead of 4 euros at the doctor. Figures from the CM show that 16 percent of its members are entitled to this.
