On Monday afternoon (April 28th) on Memminger Strasse in Neu-Ulm Accident happened. According to previous knowledge, a 17-year-old was seriously injured, but probably not life-threatening. She was hit by a overturned traffic light mast. An 88-year-old driver also suffered serious injuries.

Around 1 p.m. a 45-year-old was out of town in her White Nissan on Memminger Strasse. She obviously overlooked another ocher -colored Nissan next to her.

Serious accident in Neu-Ulm: traffic light mast records 17-year-olds

The 88-year-old driver’s car came to the left through the side collision and crashed into a traffic light mast on the middle island behind the intersection. The Nissan turned 90 degrees and got caught by the traffic light. Due to the impact, the traffic light mast tipped 30 degrees and hit a 17-year-old student who was waiting on the middle island.

The youth suffered serious injuries due to the mast. The 88-year-old, whose car was pushed against the traffic light mast, also suffered serious injuries. The 45-year-old person who caused the accident suffered minor injuries.

Three ambulances and two emergency doctors provided the injured. The Neu-Ulm fire brigade blocked Memminger Strasse on behalf of the police and diverted traffic through parallel roads. There were severe traffic disruptions. Memminger Straße was completely closed to secure the evidence and the recovery of the accident vehicles. City employees removed the traffic light mast.

To what extent the unknown driver, who turned to the right from Albert-Schweitzer-Straße in the direction of Senden, had been involved in the accident, has not yet been known to the police. The property damage of the damaged vehicles and traffic facilities is estimated at around 20,000 euros.
