15-year-old Jooa Mitsui drove to the bike thief

« I’ve never heard that the bike could not be left unattended for a minute. In bike competitions, people trust that the competitors are reliable and nothing takes anything from there, » says Laukkanen.

Someone drove the bike and Laukkanen couldn’t get stuck while running.

« I thought I would never see that bike again, » he says.

At the same time, 15 years old arrived Yeah mitsui together with his father Joona Mitsuin with. They led Laukkanen’s bike and shouted, « Does some bike missing? »

Joa told his father that the bike was surely stolen, turned around and went after the thief.

« It seemed that the thief would be caught quite easily, » Joo says.

Jooa repaired the bike and took it with his father Jonah to the competition area where they found a Laukkanen looking for their bike.

Laukkanen He thinks that Mitsui’s activities are exemplary. However, he also wonders about the boy’s courage, as it was probably a professional thief.

« He had immediately cut off the racing number. These can be dangerous people, » he says.

Laukkanen also wants to warn other possible thieves participating in bike competitions. He believes the thief waited next to the toilet that someone would leave their valuable racing bike unattended.

« My bike is the coolest thing I own, » Laukkanen says.

Later, Laukkanen reached the boy through social media and gave him a cash reward for the stopping of the bike thief.

« The boy didn’t expect any reward. He just did it because it was right, » Laukkanen says.

Yeah Cycling continues this summer abroad. “The intention is to compete in three competitions in Åre in Sweden in early July and in August-September at least one race to Europe,” says Joona Mitsui.

When it comes to school, Joo hopes to be able to study as a car mechanic in the fall.
