Before the funeral ceremonies, the body of Pope Francis was staged in a casket in front of the Basilica of St. Piotr. The Holy Father was dressed in a white pontifical outfit and red liturgical robes. Traditional items were placed in the casket: the « Rogito » document describing his pontificate, a pouch with coins struck during his ministry and Paschał – a symbol of the resurrection. For several days, pilgrims had a chance to say goodbye to Pope Francis.
The funeral mass began on Saturday, April 26, at 10, and crowds of the faithful in prayer and silence participate in the ceremony of the last farewell to the Pope.
