10th anniversary of the events in Divo Naselje in Indzikovo
In front of the monument to the hero Goran Stojmenovic in the town of Indzikovo today an event was held to mark the 10th anniversary of the events in Kumanovo’s Divo Naselje, which took place in 2015.
Interior Minister Pance Toskovski, Mayor of Gazi Baba Baban Stefkovski and a member of Goran Stojmenovic’s family, addressed the event, according to the Municipality of Gazi Baba.
« Sometimes in any page of Macedonian history, the memory of the fateful May 10 years ago, the day when our Macedonian heroes, members of the Ministry of Interior, have laid their lives in a fierce conflict for defending our homeland, » Minister Toskovski said.
Mayor Stefkovski stressed that Macedonia lost eight sons, people with names, families and dreams.
-That were people who wore a uniform not because of his duty, but because of the belief that Macedonia, no matter how small, deserves peace, security, and before and above all dignity! Their victim is not just a symbol of tragedy. It is a symbol of courage and love for the homeland – said Stefkovski.
In a sign of deep respect and memory, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the tragic events in Divo Naselje, 8 white balloons were released to the sky-a symbol of honor, peace and gratitude. On each balloon, the name of one of our heroes who laid their lives for the homeland was written.
This act is a quiet but powerful message that their victim is not forgotten. White balloons stabbed the sky as a symbol of their eternal freedom and our last duty to remember. Let our memory rise – let their courage fly, the statement said.
